Typical day of Business Analyst
As the main attributes of Business Analyst position are heterogeneity of the everyday tasks and flexibility of working hours, typical day could be hardly described. Business Analysts usually arrive at the office at 9 a.m. and once the computer is started, first task is assigned. The main purpose of BA's job is the support of our consultants in time demanding tasks – they prepare summaries of current legislation, detailed company profiles or industry overviews based on the internet research; they work with extensive excel files, translate documents for both clients and consultants and also help our consultants with the graphic presentation of their ideas.
As an example the morning is spent reviewing the principles of CO2 emissions credit system, its previous developments and expectations for the future. After finding and reading the relevant documents short summary is made for consultants. Then, for the late afternoon workshop, last slides have to be prepared in PowerPoint based on the original drawn by consultants and once the material is completed and translated into second language it is printed out and bound. Business Analysts also provide support at workshops and interviews, either by translating for foreign colleagues or by processing the data received during the workshop.
Workday of Business Analyst usually ends around 6 p.m. but it is highly flexible especially with regard to afternoon/evening classes at the University as well as to previously agreed requests of consultants for late evening support.
